It's a late night, I've totally lost my track of sleep, so I decided to get the Hama beads out and make my location names. I'll be taking them out with me when we have Game Days, so they should be in a few photos in the future.
While I'm sat there poking little pieces of plastic on to a board of pins, I came up with a new idea to make Game Days a bit more interesting. We have a Game Day Champion where we all vote for someone we thought did best on the day, so how about something for the person who actually did play best through the day. The Guild Championship is born.
I've made a pixel trophy which is for photographs only, because it's quite big and I'm not that rich. The Game Day Awards will continue, so whoever gets voted the best player, they still get that.
The Guild Champion does get a little something though. A Guild Coin. If someone wins 5 of these over time, I will give them something totally epic. Like I said before, I'm not loaded, so it's going to take time for the 5 coins to be built up, and hopefully it'll be worth the wait.
To make it a bit more special, each coin will be a different colour depending on where the Game Day was held. Worksop is green, Sheffield is white, Nottingham is red, and London is silver. I wonder if anyone will be trying to collect them all?
If you're wondering how the Guild Champion is crowned, well that's easy. I look at all the records at the end of the day, give points to everyone for positions they got in each game, and points for wins, so on and so forth. The person with the highest score is the winner. Easy as that.
I didn't realise I got the title for Game Day 3 and 4 until after I thought this up. I went through my records and scored everything. For Game Day 4, I really thought Caroline had won. Nope, she got the vote though for Game Day Champion, very well deserved too. So I have two coins myself, which are just awards for me because I'm not going to buy myself something epic. Haha.
Game Day just got a bit more competitive. ;)
My brand new Game Day channel is now on. Go to the Home page of this website to find the current link. I am hoping the new channel does well, so I will need your support, subscriptions, comments and likes.
Please share my channel. It's going to get bigger and better. Cheers.
I've been having game meets with friends for years. It only got called Game Day officially on the 18th of February 2017 when everyone came to my home for a few games. So the title started in my home town of Worksop on that day.
As you can see since then, Game Day has evolved quite a bit. I know table top gamers out there use the term a lot for their own meets, but I do like to think of the ones I do are a little differently. Every event, when the day is over and all the games have been played, we all have a secret vote on who we think did best, then we reveal the winner and they get a special pixel award.
So far, we've had two Game Day's at my house, one in London, and one in Sheffield. We're looking to add Nottingham to that list soon, possibly on the 5th meet due to a train strike stopping my friends getting to Worksop from Sheffield. Should be an interesting day.
I'm going to be adding places as a category on my website and show pieces from Worksop, Sheffield, London, and of course Nottingham when we do a meet there. It wont just follow games, although I am hoping to get a few photos of any game related shops in every place we have a Game Day, but I am aiming to get a few photos and videos of the nice parts as well. All positive of course, I don't want any negativity here.
The photo you can see was taken on Retford Road in Worksop. It's currently on the brand new GAME DAY INFO INSTAGRAM so make sure you come follow us on our gaming journey. I did take my pixel Game Day sign off after I took the photo, unlike the sticker banged on there on the bottom right. I have no idea what that's supposed to be? Anyone know?
Game Day is going to go from strength to strength, these are exciting times in our gaming lives.
The Game Day website is up and running but lacking content so far. I am aiming to get at least one game covered every week, starting with Monopoly: The Mega Edition. Before the end of July, I am going to cover some real mind blowing games (I am kidding here to be honest). I have a couple of Top Trumps games, one including My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. I will be adding Yahtzee to the list as it's one of my most popular videos on YouTube. I'll be adding Magic The Gathering duel decks, Mind Vs Might along the way too.
One of the new projects I'll be starting is a brand new YouTube channel, making a new Yahtzee tutorial and viewing Magic: Mind Vs Might and Mega Monopoly. My old channel will still be on the go but only for stupid content, and it's hardly been used the last few months anyway. The new Game Day channel wont have masses of content, just better quality stuff.
The main thing on Game Day I haven't even added yet are the meets myself, family and friends do. We've played a lot of games and out 5th Game Day will be on the 8th July 2017.
Game Day 5 has been hit though and having to make new plans because of the rail strikes. It'll all be revealed on the Game Day page when I finally get it made.
The thing slowing me down getting content isn't just work or sleep, or doing things around the house and garden. My son, Maverick, has had a crap sleep this week due to the weather. It's been so hot, he can't get comfortable. If it's the usual summer in the UK, he should be alright for the rest of 2017. ;)
Introducing myself, I am Tony. Known online as Tonyo or Nightowl Darksky. I'm a 40 year old non-virgin with a 1 year old son called Maverick. My wife, Caroline, is a gamer too, and with my gaming habits in the past, I don't know how she's put up with me all of this time? She loves gaming, but she isn't as extreme as me.
I mostly play tabletop board games these days. Video games, I opt for Nintendo 3DS and Xbox. I don't play as much these days though, gaming has become expensive with all the extra downloadable material which is robbing gamers, EA being the biggest criminal of that.
Nintendo DS is a good format for Mario Kart 7, love playing that. Board games consist of the usual common games like Cluedo and Monopoly. Less common games are Magic The Gathering, Stratego, and it seems Yahtzee isn't as popular and well known as I thought so add that to the uncommon.
I'll explain more where Game Day came from in a blog soon, along with what I'm going to be doing on the website. I am opening a new YouTube channel, Instagram and possibly a Deviant Art page which I'll try and use more this time. My Facebook and Twitter will remain as they are, Tonyo TV, which is my current online rubbish. I'm hoping Game Day will become well known, epic, and not rubbish like my old material. I really want this to work.
More to come and I'm looking forward to it. Hope you are too. Remember...
Don't just sit there... GAME!
