Game Day is awesome. It's a day full of games with friends and/or family, and it's not just the taking part, but introducing new games to people has a great feel to it. New experiences and having fun are key points in life. I would love to take everyone to Ludorati Cafe in Nottingham.
Talking of key points. The voting system at the end of Game Day works, and no matter the vote, it stands. The person who wins gets the award to keep forever. I enjoy making them, I enjoy the fact that someone can win an award for achievements noticed by the rest of the group. There's always those moments in time though where things go a bit tits up and you try and figure out what the hell is going on, or if the system works or not.
Game Day 39, a day for Maverick to play with the family and enjoy some simple games. Snakes and Ladders, Yoshi Bingo, you can't ask for anything easier. I just realised as I was typing this that we forgot to play Black Jack, another easy one for Maverick because he doesn't really do anything. Bit disappointed in myself for forgetting the traditional game of Black Jack, maybe it's getting too old now?
The day was ok, and I think Bernard enjoyed it most. I didn't take part of course to give Maverick the limelight of the day. He only won a game of Yoshi Bingo, but trust me, there's no skill involved in that game whatsoever. It was at the end when it all failed in my opinion, when it came to the vote.
Bernard gave the vote to Blossom, which was justified. Blossom and Diane voted for Maverick because, well... it's Maverick. Not exactly the point of the vote as when I ask players to put in their vote for the player of the day, it's usually on gaming merit, how well the person voting thought someone deserves it for a valid reason. It's not a biased vote where someone votes for another person just because they're 2 years old.
I did ask Blossom who she'd vote for other than Maverick, she wouldn't answer me because she's as stubborn as I am. Diane said she'd have voted Blossom. So really when you look at the votes, if Diane had voted Blossom, she'd have another award, and Blossom, well she'll probably biased again next time.
The vote stands and Maverick is the winner of Game Day 39, and I'm not going to be changing the system anytime soon because it does work.
Game Day 40 is happening next week, another Game Day for Maverick before the madness of Sheffield on Game Day 42. Errrrm, yeah, I missed the 41st because that's when the big Dominoes Tournament begins between myself, Bernard, Blossom and Diane. We will discover who's the best at one of the most rigged and dodgy pub games in history. Just like with Guild Quest, the Guild Tourny will shine.
Well done Maverick. I think?!
